Someone stole my shark!
13th January, 2015
What a day, not a breath of wind to mask the shags diving or the eagle rays flying. It took me 3 hours until I caught my first rig, an 88 cm female, which I tagged with a Lyon-DeJoux tracking tag.
She spent 6 hours in an area 400 x 200 m and with the good weather I was hoping for a good overnight track. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Someone stole my shark! The tracking picture above indicates that a boat has picked up the tag (and possibly the shark), and motored to the south, then down the channel to the boat ramp. They then drove along SH58 until out of reach of the tracking system.
I hope that whoever did this calls me and gives me back my tag, which I need for my research. It’s probably too late for the shark, but my tag back would be great.
