I got my tag back !!!
17th January, 2015| My shark wasn’t stolen, she was “set-free” by a local water skier who decided that my tracking tag was wrongly caught around a shark. He cut the tag off, took the tag home, then called me today to say he had the tag.

Tracking tag stops transmitting at 7:24 am
16th January, 2015After having a tag stolen earlier in the week I put out another tag yesterday hoping for the best, only to have it stop transmitting at 7:24 this morning after an 18 hour track.

Someone stole my shark!
13th January, 2015I hope that whoever did this calls me and gives me back my tag, which I need for my research. It’s probably too late for the shark, but my tag back would be great.
NZMRF report
11th January, 2015Just finished a report for the New Zealand Marine Research Foundation (NZMRF) as part of a funding agreement. As part of that agreement I visited local colleges and Primary schools. If you would like me to visit your school please email me.

Baited Underwater Video
9th January, 2015Went into Pauatahanui Inlet with Britt, and we put down a Baited Underwater Video, to see if we could film any rig.
Quiet day
2nd January, 2015Went fishing for two hours and caught no rig sharks???? Very unexpected. I caught a small eagle ray and small trevally which I measured and returned to the water.
Tracking update
22nd December, 2014Caught nine rig in Pauatahanui Inlet in two hours, and one rig in Onepoto after two hours of fishing.

101 cm male tagged
16th December, 2014Caught a rig at 7:10am – an adult male, 101 cm (a big one). Tagged it with a Lyon-DeJoux tag and it transmitted for 6 hours. Track shown here.
Nothing today
15th December, 2014Went out to catch a rig but after two hours had caught nothing. The wind was increasing so I went back to shore.
