Bay of Islands
24th November, 2014Went to the Bay of Islands, with the same NIWA crew as on our Whangarei trip, trying to catch some hammerhead sharks. During seven days we caught about six hammerheads and attached electronic tracking tags to two of the biggest sharks (~150 cm). The others…
The rig have arrived!

Pauatahanui Primary School visit
10th November, 2014I gave a talk today at Pauatahanui Primary School, about all the sharks found in Porirua Harbour.
Still no rig
8th November, 2014No rig sharks in Porirua harbour yet. I caught a yellow belly flounder, a kahawai and an eagle ray, but no rig sharks.

First time on the water this 2015-16 season
16th October, 2014After testing the boat and finding it running smoothly and safely I set my nets in Pauatahanui inlet catching 19 rig in 2 hours, that’s more than 9 sharks per hour (quite a catch rate) considering there is only meant to be a few sharks…

No rig sharks in Porirua harbour yet
12th October, 2014With no rig sharks to track in Porirua, I went to Whangarei Harbour and the Bay of Islands to try and catch some hammerhead sharks.
Off to France
